The Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo is a concept designed by Bugatti and was unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The vehicle’s design is based on the winner of the 24 Hour Le Mans, the Type 57C Tank.
The Brief
The brief was to model the car from scratch in 3D and create a series of key visuals that could be used in a variety of promotional collateral using “nature” as a theme to compliment the vehicle’s beautiful design.
Challenges & Solution
Without the use of custom photography for the backgrounds I had to rely on stock libraries. This involved exhaustive searches to find the right shots to satisfy the clients requirements.
Some environments had to be completely built in 3D such as the forest scene. Other scenes like the lake scene – the background mountains were composited together with the lake which was created with Phoenix FD and Max.
Technical Process
The vehicle was modelled in 3DS Max with a sub-D workflow. The environments were a combination of CGI and matte painting techniques. Phoenix FD was used for fluid dynamics and Forest Pack for scattering.
Only one Vision Gran Turismo exists.
The car has an estimated value of 18 Million US Dollars.
