Sea Force
Sea Force is a children's card game developed in 2024 by Bright Bean Toys. Designed for 2–6 players aged 8 and up, it combines strategic gameplay with vibrant, ocean-themed visuals. The game features 12 unique sea creature character cards and 10 action cards that influence game strategy. Each card is illustrated in a fun, Disney-like 3D style, with a color-coded stat system for easy understanding. The compact rulebook matches the card size, fitting neatly within the bright, eye-catching packaging. Sea Force aims to engage children in imaginative, screen-free play while developing their strategic thinking skills.
The Brief
The brief was to create all visual assets for Sea Force, a strategy-based card game for children aged 8 and up, for 2–6 players. Deliverables included: a logo based on a sea creature, 12 illustrated character cards, and 10 illustrated action cards in a layout similar to Pokémon. The task was to create front and back card templates, a visually engaging rulebook, and eye-catching packaging suitable for retail. All designs needed to reflect an underwater adventure theme, appeal to kids, and support easy gameplay. The final assets were to be prepared for print and digital use.
The Solution
My solution was to create a bold, playful logo featuring a dolphin inside a military-style shield, using dark and bright blue tones to reflect the game's underwater theme. The characters were designed in a fun, Disney-like 3D style to appeal to kids aged 8 and up. I designed 12 vibrant character cards and 10 action cards, using a bright, colourful palette and a custom colour-coded stat system for easy gameplay. The card templates followed a familiar layout inspired by Pokémon. The rulebook matched the card size to fit perfectly inside the box, which I designed to be compact and eye-catching.

Character Illustrations
The client required 3D Pixar-style characters that were cute, engaging, and appealing to children aged 8 and above. To meet the budget and timeline, I used MidJourney to generate the initial characters, allowing for rapid development. Since the scope did not allow for building each character from scratch, this approach provided an efficient solution. Extensive retouching and adjustments were then completed in Photoshop to ensure the visuals aligned with the client’s brief. In total, 12 characters were produced, a selection of which are shown below.

Card Design
The Sea Force card design is bold, colorful, and kid-friendly, with playful 3D character illustrations that brings the game to life. The layout is clean and easy to read, featuring a name banner, illustrated background, and rounded card corners. Game stats—Attack, Defence, and Health—are color-coded for quick reference. The character description is educational and fun, promoting creativity. Vibrant border colours reflect each character’s personality, helping to make the card visually distinctive and highly engaging for young players.

Packaging Design
I designed the Sea Force packaging to capture the spirit of the game while ensuring it stood out in a competitive retail environment. The box featured the signature dolphin logo alongside a selection of the Sea Force characters, instantly introducing children to the fun, adventurous world inside. Bold ocean-inspired colours were chosen to reflect the underwater fantasy theme and to grab attention on shelves. Beyond its visual appeal, the packaging was carefully structured to hold all components securely, including the cards and rulebook. Compact and durable, it was designed with practicality in mind—perfect for travel, storage, and repeated play.

Marketing Visuals
I produced a series of shots featuring children playing Sea Force, placing them within imaginative settings to enhance the sense of adventure. To achieve this, I created playful submarine and aquarium backdrops that extended the underwater theme of the game. The marketing visuals were designed to be bold, eye-catching, and aligned with the game’s playful tone, ensuring consistency across all touchpoints. Each asset was optimized for multiple platforms, including Amazon and the client’s website, delivering strong visual impact and reinforcing brand recognition wherever the game appeared.

Rule Book
The Sea Force rulebook is an A6 mini brochure designed for young players. It features beautiful, full-colour illustrations and simple, easy-to-follow instructions. Clear diagrams and playful visuals guide kids through setup and gameplay, making learning the game fun, accessible, and visually engaging right from the first play.

Posters
The client also requested two poster designs to support the game’s launch. One poster adapted the packaging artwork, featuring the box cover design I had created. The second introduced a more dynamic concept, depicting two of the Sea Force characters in an exciting face-off battle scene.
